St. Lucian Artiste and Humanitarian Donates Over 200 Athletic Shoes to Secondary Schools in St. Lucia
Internationally renowned St. Lucian reggae artiste and humanitarian Taj Weekes donated over 200 pairs of athletic shoes to children in need in St. Lucia. The donation which was coordinated through Mr. Weekes’ children’s charity, They Often Cry Outreach (TOCO) was facilitated by the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York; it was made to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society, a St. Lucian based charity for distribution to secondary schools primarily in the southern region of the island.
Mr. Weekes organized the shoe donation as part of TOCO SPORTS, the staple of TOCO's programming and initiatives. The program was created to support and provide underprivileged communities with balls, uniforms, shoes and gear to encourage children of all ages to engage in sports programs. Throughout the year, TOCO collects sports equipment for soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and boxing. Donations include balls, team uniforms, t-shirts, shorts, sneakers, cleats and other gear. Mr. Weekes hopes that the donation to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society will help with the students’ general athletic development.
